The
Micanopy Fire Rescue
Department (MFRD) is located next to the Firehouse Playground and
basketball court
on Cholokka Blvd. Staffed with 16
certified firefighters and EMS personnel, the station is manned at all
times to
assist with public safety.
MFRD
serves as District 26 first responder for the Alachua County Fire
Rescue
Department, and falls within the Waccasassa field unit of the Florida
Forest
Service. In addition to incorporated
Micanopy, MFRD provides first responder service for 64 square miles of
land
comprised of scrub forest, agricultural acreage (including timber),
grasslands,
and undeveloped wetlands, and approximately 10,000 rural residents who
make their
homes here.
