Regular meetings held the second Tuesday of each month at 7:00 p.m.
The Town Commission controls the administration and operation of the Town of Micanopy, oversees the budget and public funding, and holds all lawful legislative powers. Commissioners are responsible for addressing the needs of citizens and facilitating open and honest communication. Citizen participation is encouraged.
All registered voters who live within Town limits are eligible to hold office. Town residents elect Commissioners at large for five specific seats that run staggered three-year terms. A candidate for Town Commission may run for no more than one seat in any election.
The positions of Mayor and Mayor Pro Tem are chosen by the five Commissioners. The Mayor is the head of Town government for all ceremonial and official purposes, has the power to call meetings and preside over meetings, and executes ordinances, resolutions, contracts and documents on behalf of the Micanopy Town Commission.
Commission meetings are open to the public.
